Thoughts on exotic species
Should exotic species be allowed to be brought to the U.S. just to be used for more expensive hunts. Here in Texas the nilgai is a example of this. The King Ranch brought these exotic species from India so they can have more animals to shot and more expensive hunts. exotic species hunts tend to be more expensive if the animal is rare to the area. Since King Ranch brought the nilgai were brought onto the King Ranch some escaped and now have over populated the area. They are now not as rare to see , but they do cause problems like breaking fences, bringing ticks, and other costly problems. So do you think exotic animals should be allowed to be brought with little research or control over them.

No, I don't believe exotic species should be brought to the U.S. or any nation what so ever before extensive research is performed. A worst case scenario is what happened with the Cane Toad in Australia. To combat the Cane Beetle population, Australia gathered a number of Cane Toads from Hawaii and released them. Unfortunately, the toads adapted and thrived in their new environment, quickly populating and consuming the local native populations. Now, the cane toads are considered an invasive species and continue to be a problem in Australia even today.
ReplyDeleteNo I belive that exotic should be brought for any reason. It fascinating that theremany diffrent specias of exotic animal and people want to more about them. But it should never be done at the expense of this animals by moving to a new place to be hunted.
